In a large pitcher, add the sugar to the boiling water, stirring until dissolved. Add the lemon juice and lemon peel; mix well. Add the cold water, stirring until well-combined. Note: Serve in tall glasses over ice and garnish with lemon slices. If you want to get really festive, plan ahead and make colorful ice cubes by dropping small wedges of lemon, green maraschino cherries, and strawberry halves into ice cube trays, then filling with water and freezing.
